Front sparks scattered rain and storms Friday across SE Texas

HOUSTON – A cold front will shove a line of storms across SE Texas. Starting mainly north of I-10 and west of I-45. As they rain dives southeast closer to Houston, showers die off.

The frontal boundary will push south along the coast and by the afternoon help in scattered showers and storms mainly south of I-10 until sunset. High pressure is moving in behind the storms, setting up a much nicer Saturday forecast across the Houston area. Overnight storms have been shifting south toward Laredo and San Antonio, with most activity near Brenham and Bastrop weakening. While some isolated showers could pop up near Columbus, El Campo, and Matagorda by lunchtime, most of the action will stay to our east by the afternoon.

Expect highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees today, with a pretty solid coast weekend ahead.

Summer Pattern Sets In:

Houston returns to a more summer-like pattern with isolated pop-up showers and storms each day. These showers and storms will not wash out any of your outdoor plans into the weekend.

Another disturbance could move in late Saturday into Sunday, but overall, things should dry out as we head into early June with typical low 90s and slim afternoon rain chances.
