Georges St-Pierre believes that now is the time for the UFC to stamp their authority and call the shots.
Like the current UFC heavyweight champion, ‘Rush’ is considered to be one of the greatest of all time with Jones having St-Pierre on his own MMA Mount Rushmore.
The former welterweight king is a big fan of ‘Bones’ and he’s very excited about the prospect of seeing Jones face Tom Aspinall with St-Pierre breaking down the matchup.
However, like many fans, ‘GSP’ believes that the ongoing heavyweight title saga is having negative effects on the division.
While Dana White recently set a deadline for Jones vs Aspinall, St-Pierre believes that the UFC needs to make its final decision sooner rather than later.

Georges St-Pierre says that the pressure needs to be on the UFC to make a decision about Jon Jones
In a recent interview with The Schmo, Georges St-Pierre gave his thoughts on the current heavyweight title dilemma.
While ‘GSP’ puts Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall right at the top of the list of fights he wants to see, he also believes that the UFC need to make a clear-cut decision on which direction they’re going in.
It was reported by Ariel Helwani that the UFC did originally meet Jones’ demands, which he accepted, before the champion went back on his word.
Dana White said the most significant thing regarding Jon Jones x Tom Aspinall in a very long time. The problem is, he didn’t tell you the whole story.

Though Dana White did state that if they can’t get the fight done, they’ll move on quickly, St-Pierre believes that the time to call the shots has already arrived.
“If he’s holding it because it’s negotiation tactics, it could be fruitful for him, you know. But, it’s up to the UFC to see what they want to do. They need to take the decision because now the young guys, young contenders, are waiting. When you’re an athlete, you have a window. If you pass that window, not good.
“So I think it’s on the UFC now to take the decision. Give Jon Jones what he wants or move on… I think it’s the UFC [that] needs to do something. The pressure needs to be on the UFC now.”
Georges St-Pierre vacated the middleweight title without defending it because he didn’t want to hold up the division
In 2017, Georges St-Pierre returned from a four-year hiatus to win the middleweight title at UFC 217.
It soon became apparent that he wouldn’t be able to defend the belt for some time due to some health issues that had come about by him trying to move up a weight class.
St-Pierre told Bloody Elbow in an exclusive interview that his quick return “p—– off everyone, especially Dana White,” but he felt that vacating the belt was the right thing to do at that time.
“You have to prepare before it happens and I retired with a smile. I mean at that time when I retired, I had ulcerative colitis. I had bad symptoms and I didn’t want to hold the belt because I think it’s disrespectful for the other competitors so I needed to make sure, to know what I wanted to do so I relinquished the belt so the other guys had a chance to fight for it.”
St-Pierre hasn’t competed since UFC 217 in 2017 though he did tell Bloody Elbow that he would be open to competing in a grappling match for a good cause.
